Agrapart et Fils

Production at the exquisite Agrapart is a tiny (by Champagne standards) 6,000 dozen per annum, or less.  And given the meticulous viticultural practices - which are essentially organic and biodynamic (but not certified as either) - it is entirely understandable why production levels are kept naturally low!  Agrapart owns about 10 hectares of vines in 62 plots, mostly in Avize, Cramant and Oger, which are nearly entirely planted to Chardonnay, much of which are old vines (about 40 years average age).

Large, old oak vessels are utilised for vinification and ageing of the better parcels of fruit, allowing the wine to gently and carefully oxidise - no oak flavour is sought in these wines.  The wines undergo complete malolactic fermentations, eliminating the need for harsh filtration and high levels of sulphur dioxide (either during vinification or at bottling).  Extended ageing on lees is another hallmark of this wonderful producer.
