Dexter Wines

Despite extensive winemaking experience around the world since the 1970s, ton most winedrinkers Tod Dexter is synonymous with the Mornington Peninsula.  Although he created his eponymous 'Dexter' label with the 2006 vintage, he was for many years winemaker at the largest Peninsula producer, Stonier, and crafted many tremendous wines during his tenure there.

The Dexter wines are sourced from the family vineyard in Merricks, planted in 1987, and just two wines are produced - a Pinot Noir and a Chardonnay. Winemaking is relatively straightforward - whole-bunch press for the Chardonnay, 100% destemmed for the Pinot Noir, brisk fermentations in barrel (Chardonnay) and small fermenters (Pinot Noir), minimal oak influence (around 25% new) and bottling about 10 months after vintage.  The result is fruit-forward, elegant wines that are full-flavoured yet retain great vibrancy and freshness.  In short, delicious wines.

Given their intrinsic quality, they also offer excellent value for money.
