Dominus Estate

In 1981 Christian Moueix, owner of some of the most famed Bordeaux vineyards (Chateaux Petrus, Lafleur-Petrus, Trotanoy and more recently Belair-Monange) discovered the historic Napanook property, located to the west of Yountville.  It's 50 hectares had been the source of some of the Napa Valley's most important wines during the 1940s, 1950s and 1960s (notably Inglenook), and by 1995 the Moueix family owned it outright.

Cabernet Sauvignon makes up the vast majority of the blend each year, although varying amounts of Cabernet Franc and Petit Verdot are added (no Merlot has been utilised in the blend since the 2005 vintage).  The wine spends around 18 months in oak, of which approximately 40% is new each year.

There is no doubt that Dominus continues to be one of the greatest Napa Valley Cabernets produced each year, and represents tremendous value for money (due in part I suspect to it's 5,000+ case prodcution).
