Dry River

Established in 1979 by Dr Neil McCallum and his wife Dawn, Dry River wines was one of New Zealand's first superstar wineries with a strong international reputation.  An initial two acres planted on what is now known as the Martinborough Terrace - on free-draining, gravelly soils.  Today there are some 13 hectares planted across three distinct sites within Martinborough.

New owners (the McCallum's sold to two US-based investors more than a decade ago) provided for a capital injections, allowing for a more fully-equiped winery and greater facilities and investment in the vineyards.

The wines have always been idiosyncratic and revered, and in limited supply with demand far exceeding availability.  A host of tiny-production whites, mostly aromatic, and the two exceptional reds - the flagship Pinot Noir and the striking, stunning Syrah.
