Château d’ARMAILHAC

Tasting notes

2009:  A blend of 60% Cabernet Sauvignon, 24% Merlot, 14% Cabernet Franc and 2% Petit Verdot.  Beautiful, lifted aromas, with spice, plum and blackcurrant.  On the palate the wine has good depth and weight, beautiful fine tannins and a lovely purity.  Somewhat liqueur flavour on the palate, but clean and fresh.  Good complexity and length of finish.  92-94 points, drink 2015-2030.  April 2010.

2007:  Aged in 25% new oak, and containing a huge 22% Cabernet Franc.  Softly sweet aromas showing creaming blackcurrant, plum and raspberry flavours.  Somewhat lean on the palate, with soft tannins and very good length.  Hints of chocolate (dark) and currants on the palate, very good intensity.  If this fleshes out during its elevage it will be wonderful.  89-92 points, drink 2012-2020.  April 2008.

2006:  Blended two weeks prior.  Lovely lifted aromas of red berry and currants, quite complex and sweet aromatically.  Soft

and supple on the palate, lovely soft ripeness, bright and fresh.  Good intensity and complexity and length of finish.  Really attractive, approachable wine that should age superbly.  90-93 points, drink 2010-2022.  April 2008.
