M. Chapoutier

Founded in 1808, M. Chapoutier since 1989 has been run with incredible enthusiasm and energy by Michel Chapoutier.  Based in the centre of the Rhone Valley in the village of Hermitage (just under the famous hill), the Chapoutier empire stretches multiple countries and continents in both hemispheres.  Whilst excellent wines (and very often, great value wines) are produced around the world, it is for the wines of the Rhone Valley, and particularly Hermitage itself, that the Chapoutier name is most revered for today.img-1483.jpg

Michel is an avid, passionate believer in organic, biodynamic and 'natural' or minimal interventionist winemaking.  Coupled with his superbly sited plots (including l'Ermite, Pavillon, Le Meal, de l'Oree on the hill of Hermitage, as well as Mordoree in Cote-Rotie) he produces some of the world's most incredible, and frankly, greatest wines.  Yet in appellations such as the Cotes du Luberon, or Crozes-Hermitage, or internationally such as his sites in Victoria (Australia) that exceptional value can be found.

The single-vineyard, single-variety cuvees, produced from extremely low-yielding very old vines, are aged in 100% new oak each vintage and bottled without fining nor filtration.
