Established in 1984 by John and Julie Truman, Myrtaceae Winery must be one of the Mornington Peninsula's smallest vineyards (and wineries), but is punching well above its weight when it comes to high-quality Chardonnay and Pinot Noir.myrtaceae.jpg
Located in Main Ridge, and indeed one of the highest elevation vineyards on the Peninsula, its vines run on a gentle slope, nearly touching those of neighbouring Main Ridge Estate.  Numerous alterations, extensions and re-graftings took place until the vineyard today produces just the two wines.
John handles the vineyard side of things, whilst Julie provides a deft touch in the winery.  Both prefer to allow their beautiful site to fully express itself, trying to minimise the hand of the winemaker.  I have always found the wines to epitomise the elegance and finesse the Peninsula is capable of, and love the fact that the wines represent excellent value for money.
