Stonier is one of the great success stories of the Mornington Peninsula.  Whilst their 'standard' and even 'reserve' wines are nearly ubiquitous in many bottleshops around Australia and even overseas in London, Los Angeles, New York, Hong Kong and the like, they also produce tiny quantities of exciting Pinot Noir and Chardonnay from several of the many sites they source their grapes from.stonier-vineyards.jpg

These small parcels, vinified separately, often serve as experimental wines, testing new techniques or winemaking nuances that may later appear in the more common wines, and add complexity to the broader blends.

The Lyncroft vineyard was planted in 1988, and is located on Tucks Road in Shoreham, whilst the Windmill vineyard, also in Shoreham, is so named for the iconic corrugated iron windmill that presided there...at least until it was blown down in a storm!  These are two of the most important sources of Pinot Noir for Stonier, and generally form the basis for the Reserve wine each year.
