Ten Minutes By Tractor

10xbt-vines.jpgDelightfully named for the geographic proximity of the original three vineyards that comprised the three families' collaboration decades earlier.  Today, under the watchful eye of passionate owner Martin Spedding and winemaker Jeremy Magyar (with more than a little guidance from Rick McIntyre at Moorooduc Estate) Ten Minutes By Tractor, or 10XBT, is considered at the fore of elegant and finesse Mornington Peninsula Pinot Noir.

The three single vineyards Wallis, McCutcheon and Judd form the heart of the range, with individual vineyard Pinot Noirs released from all three sites most years as well as single-site Chardonnays from McCutcheon and Wallis.  An Estate blend of wine from all three home vineyards is released every year (both Pinot Noir and Chardonnay) and the entry-level '10X' range is produced not only from de-classified fruit, but also from other sites throughout the Mornington Peninsula that are either owned or managed by the Ten Minutes team.tractor.jpg

The 12 acre Wallis vineyard is north-facing at 140m elevation, planted to seven acres of Pinot Noir (MV6, 115 and 777 in 1995) and five acres of Chardonnay planted in 1991 (entirely clone P58).  It enjoys a somewhat maritime climate, located in a small valley.  The McCutcheon vineyard is east-facing and higher, planted in 1993 with Pinot Noir (entirely MV6) and Chardonnay.  The Judd vineyard is entirely Pinot Noir, mostly the Pommard clones 114 and 115 and is a warmer, west-facing site between 150 and 200 meters elevation.
