Established by Edward Tyrrell in 1858, who began planting Shiraz and Semillon vines taken from cuttings of James Busby's collection, today the fifth generation of Tyrrells family are now firmly ensconced in running this stalwart of the Australian wine industry.temporary-1-.jpg

Best known for their iconic 'Winemaker Selection' of 'Vat' wines, Tyrrells also offer a range of great-value wines from classic Hunter Valley varieties such as Semillon, Shiraz and Chardonnay.  Winemaking is tradional, wax-lined concrete vats and stainless steel vessels are the choice for fermentation, whilst the reds are aged in a mix of oak formats, including a heavy emphasis on neutral 2,500 litre oak foudres.
